Once I Caught A Fish Alive

Actually i've caught a fish alive many times. lol

But that's not the point.

The point is:

No i'm not getting nostalgic over some vaguely-remembered childhood!

Okay you see right:

'Why did you let it go?
Because it bit my finger so,
Which finger did it bite?
This little finger on my right.'

The big question: WHY is there a 'so' there? What does it mean? Cuz it doesn't seem to bring much sense/meaning to the phrase.

Three possible answers.

1. Because it bit my finger [like] so.

2. Because it bit my finger so [I let it go].

3. The word 'so' is meaningless - it's just for the rhyme.

I don't like the third option cuz it doesn't explain anything!

So yeah. What do you think?

who ever said nursery rhymes were easy to understand? they shouldn't be teaching kids these cuz even i don't know the meaning behind the words hahah

  1. Clearly, the English language is not your strong suit.

The definition of "so" is as follows ;"In the condition" or "manner expressed" or "indicated"; thus.

Read the dictionary once in a while love, it could do you some good.

    Just saying...
