poof

I'm just going to act like nothing happened to this blog. hah.

(=

So Christmas.

PRESENTS!

Yes Christmas to me means so much more than that, but here's a thank you to everyone who gave me something.

And everyone else who didn't, thank you too :) cuz if everyone gave me a Christmas present, that'd be freaky.

But if everyone didn't, that'd be nightmarish.

Modest. I like.

Weirdest: that pink teddy bear keychain from Joyce

Randomest: Sharon's wrap-a-cord-around-me bear

Useful-est: that RM10 reload coupon (:

Christmas-est: snowglobe!

Lots of the usual-but-i-still-like messages on self-made cards, thank you.

..while some people obviously thought it was still Halloween. kidding.

So fast d 2009 ending. lousyy.

I liked the Christmas presents I gave ppl. I think they were nice.

Bought wrapping paper on Christmas day itself!

Then spent 25th's evening and night, and 26th's morning and half-afternoon preparing them.

Time to look back, and thank God.

Stick-y Situations

My stick's grip is stickyyy! Can play lah, but not very nice to hold?

Oleh sebab itu, memandangkan musibah yang teruk dan semakin menjadi-jadi itu, I need to buy a new grip that isn't sticky!

Options.
1. Buy the racquet grips, put three. Multicolour! RM12.
2. Buy a good, around RM50 floorball grip.
3. Buy a cheaper, RM10-20 grip.

Most likely will go for 3. lor. As long as IT'S NOT STICKY.

...

Okay, next.

Which stick, which stick..

Options.

1. Player SQL 29 Curve 1.5

RM 485.

2. Player SQL 32 Curve 1.5

RM 400.

The diff is the flex, obviously. One easier to press, the other one harder..

...just look at what ky's been saying in the chatbox lah. hahahah.

But you see right, one looks much nicer! Meaning, I prefer how the 29 looks than the 32. Plus 29's one-piece grip is niceee! But confirm become black.

which one?

maybe i should just get this:

hahaha.

(yes, confirm unihoc curve d. just dunno which one!)

Post-Exam

So, how was the exam?

It was okay.

Which is good, I think.

Results, results.

And this time round the results do matter (before this they didn't really, but now.. there's weight added!).

But I'm not one to fret over results (at least until 5 minutes before the teacher starts giving the papers out) SO.

What to do? Now that the exam's over!

Okay la, before that. I've finished something I started on since primary school. I started it kerana dipengaruhi oleh kedua-dua abang saya and also cuz I like it!

It's interesting.

Reading's always good for you, right?

And so I finished reading Misteri Naga =D something you'd never heard of before unless you also happen to read those japanese-translated-int0-malay comic books like Doraemon, Mutiara Naga, Qtaro, Dr Slump...

This one!

Thanks to some kind people who translated the books from Jap to English and uploaded it onto the Net, i know exactly what happened at the end d =D something i've been wanting to know since primary school!!

Okay, besides that!

Television!

Sooo many episodes of this to catch up on.

Meet the Natives, a new documentary on NatGeo. VERY VERY interesting!! Yes, you should watch it xP

Then of course,

not this blog i mean. The other two :) cuz we're kinda short on writers now? Oh well. It's fun anyways.

And last, but not least.

FLOORBALL TRAINING. dumdeedumdum!

Yes, i have survived the 26-day abstinence. hahaha!

Oh wait. I nearly forgot.

One more thing.

Okay, I've said floorball d. What could possibly be next..?

=)

Believe it or not, it's gonna be my FIRST time drinking my own starbucks cup (not the cup, the coffee i mean but.. you get it lah).

And..

..I'm not even paying for it! Someone else is!

:D :D :D

Thank you, Tan Wei-Lynn. I really appreciate it!

Oleh sebab dia terlalu terharu atas jasa dan bimbingan saya dalam mata pelajaran Geografi.. hahahah.

=D

PS: i've deleted my link list cuz i too lazy d xP

The Million-Dollar Bio Question

Okay, three food samples.

A = starch
B = glucose
C = sucrose

They're all hydrolysed (by boiling in dilute hydrochloric acid then neutralised with sodium hydrogen carbonate).

Then they're tested with Benedict's solution.

Will all three test positive?

Of faith

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." - Hebrews 11:1 (NKJV)

Faith acts as if that which is hoped for is ALREADY a reality.

Sunday 11 October 2009

Disappointed.

That I've been deceived.

That what I believed to be true all this while, is actually nothing but a degrading lie.

Call me a fool for only realising it now.

Darn you tricksters.

...

And it was one day before the exam that she realised that..

..Malaysia's beloved Ministry of Education has taken William Somerset Maugham's short story, 'The Lotus Eater', and stripped it bare of its literary beauty.

The horror!

And they still call it 'by William Somerset Maugham' and made me think that his writings were that simple.

The short story, according to our beloved ministry:

'In 1913, I visited a friend who lived on the island of Capri. Capri is a most beautiful island in the Bay of Naples. From the island, you can see across the water to Mount Vesuvius on the mainland of Italy. ...'

What Mr Maugham really wrote:

'Most people, the vast majority in fact, lead the lives that circumstances have thrust upon them, and though some repine, looking upon themselves as round pegs in square holes, and think that if things had been different they might have made a much better showing, the greater part accept their lot, if not with serenity, at all events with resignation. They are like train-cars travelling forever on the selfsame rails. They go backwards and forwards, backwards and forwards, inevitably, till they can go no longer and then are sold as scrap-iron. It is not often that you find a man who has boldly taken the course of his life into his own hands. When you do, it is worth while having a good look at him. ...'

Gosh. From something so pretty to something fit for primary schoolers!

A short one.

If only the exam was a week later, then i'd have more than enough time to get everything in.

If only the exam could come (and end!) faster, then i can get on with other stuff.

Friday 2 October 2009

What made my Friday nice.

He.. was a real patience-tester. haha. But it was good =)

Ephraimites and Seri Cahaya Orphanage kids (just a few of them). Our 4th time there d I think.

Pastor stopped the van at the side of the road next to the airport runway.. to see a plane fly over us and land. hahaha. 2nd time d!

And although Ephraim was the nearest, I think we were the last cell group to eat here lol

Kangaroo satay.. Ordered horse but they didn't have. Ah. Wasted. haha.

Pls don't misunderstand. Eulene isn't what made my friday nice. Watching her struggle to bite off the piece of kangaroo meat from the satay stick.. THAT was what made my Friday nice xP

Monday 28 September 2009

Smart ppl.

Like me.

And my brothers.

It runs in the family!

hahahah. xP

So you see right, he found this out.

It's cool if you're using Windows (sorry, apple users! ahemwei-lynnahem) and you have multiple programs running at once.

Try pressing alt+tab.

=D i like.

Vista is even better! You can press alt+tab and it looks nicer, or..

tab+windowskey.

We were so impressed we both did it over and over again a few times cuz it's so fun. hahah.

Tuesday 22 September 2009

What I'm Reading.

*note: all the pictures are off the Internet, i didn't take them.

Of awesome books that you can't put down, to books you wish you didn't have to read.

What I want to read right now:

Lent by Pei. I know the cover doesn't scream READ ME but it's a really really really good book! The wordful descriptions capture the scenes and the feelings behind them very well. Usually I don't like reading details authors write that don't really matter, but this book is really detailed and somehow you actually enjoy all those small details.

But I'm forced to put it down (I'm one-third through) to read:

I'm reading Physics now. Doesn't it look so darn exciting? Then Chem, then Bio. Oh, joy!
Physics is beautiful, bytheway =)

The big momma of all horrible books they force down your throat. Gosh. I dread trying to memorise all the details.

So yeah, in conclusion, I like reading. hahahaha.

Sunday 20 September 2009

Happy Raya! =D

Thanks Amy :) and also for the nasi minyak, chicken curry, beef stew-thingy and pickled salad.

Thursday 10 September 2009

Once I Caught A Fish Alive

Actually i've caught a fish alive many times. lol

But that's not the point.

The point is:

No i'm not getting nostalgic over some vaguely-remembered childhood!

Okay you see right:

'Why did you let it go?
Because it bit my finger so,
Which finger did it bite?
This little finger on my right.'

The big question: WHY is there a 'so' there? What does it mean? Cuz it doesn't seem to bring much sense/meaning to the phrase.

Three possible answers.

1. Because it bit my finger [like] so.

2. Because it bit my finger so [I let it go].

3. The word 'so' is meaningless - it's just for the rhyme.

I don't like the third option cuz it doesn't explain anything!

So yeah. What do you think?

who ever said nursery rhymes were easy to understand? they shouldn't be teaching kids these cuz even i don't know the meaning behind the words hahah

Sunday 6 September 2009

If I didn't leave..

..I could've gotten a medal.

But between a medal, and a bucketload of work and presure and getting 14 other girls to play...

...I'll never regret leaving.

Thursday 3 September 2009

In brief.

My BM tuition teacher, after marking my essay, wrote (among other things):

...kamu telah mencemarkan bahasa... (and she underlined 'mencemarkan'!)

MY KARANGANS ARE GOOD. But you see, i was in a crappy mood so i like crapped out the pendahuluan. It was like something translated from english, flowery sentences and all.

Then it had red marks all over.

Before i picked that essay i wanted to do a surat kiriman tak rasmi, but my teacher was like (in BM): you're so good d pick something else.. surat is for weak ppl..

hahaha.

oh. i lost TWELVE PERCENT in chemistry! i could've beaten the highest fella you knowwww.

but you see, my cations somehow went to my ANODE, and my anions to my cathode.

wah so wrong. 12% gone like that!

Friday 28 August 2009

Of floorball.

Asking people to join a floorball tournament one week before the day itself and the deadline's already passed... wahh.

And I wonder why people hate being keeper so much... hahaha.

I hate begging and bugging but sometimes you've gotta do what you don't like.

And then there's this short guy who keeps giving lame suggestions. LOL. And then asking Alex to call his parents so him and Ivy can play.

I'm short of one person. Or two people, if things don't work properly.

They should.

By faith?

Sunday 23 August 2009

Half-frozen Durian

Rocks.

Especially if it comes from an old Indian man's garden who's a former English teacher and your mum's friend and lives 5 minutes from your house and has a really awesome garden with all sorts of trees.

And of course, A DURIAN TREE.

A durian tree in your backyard! =D

Anyways.

It's.. cold, sweet (I still don't like bitter durians), gooey, ice-creamy...

...best durian ever.

Minuman Percuma!!!

*A true Recess Revolution story I posted up on the revo website d

So yeah, as the title suggests, we did what many other schools'd already done: Give out free drinks!

Well we figured why not? So before the day itself our RR team contributed some money (about RM5 per person) and I topped it all off to get a pretty RM40.

So on Thursday me and Peili went up to the canteen tauke. Honestly, Peili does have more guts than I do lol and she said the first few words until I caught on and together we explained to the tauke that on Friday, we wanted to buy 80 cups (at 50 sen each) of drinks.

He said okay. I mean he was so... normal. As if something like this happened to him everyday hahah. We did tell him it's a CF thing, and it's just for ANY student, first come first served.

Friday came, and I forgot it was a combined recess due to the Merdeka celebrations, but our drink-giving went on very well. In fact it was kinda even better cuz the lower-form and upper-form RR groups combined this time.

First I was a bit freaked out cuz the canteen people placed our 80 cups alone by the corner of the drinks table, and at the other corner, drinks were still being sold as usual. So once everyone came we went up behind the counter of the drinks table.

And we starting saying FREE DRINKS HERE! and MINUMAN PERCUMA! and stuff like that. At first people didn't believe us, they bought their drinks as usual and didn't want the free cups of drinks. But soon a few people caught on and a few drinks were taken.

The momentum soon grew and more and more people came and they were like: Serious ah??? Some even asked why, and we just said we wanted to bless them. It was really good (and fun) as people just came up, with their shocked faces and all and smiled thankfully at us. The expression on their faces were priceless!

One or two students even came for a second round or to take some for their friends. A few even took a drink from our corner, and went to PAY for it!

In about 10 minutes (i think - it's kinda hard to keep track of time when you're doing something like this hahaha) all the drinks finished.

So, all in all, I'd say it was really, really good! Before we started this, I kept on wondering WHY are we giving out free drinks, I mean does it even make ANY positive impact?

But, at the end of the day, we didn't say anything like "Jesus loves you" but all we wanted to do was freely give as God had done for us, and to just SHOW God's kindness to the students.

Well yeah, RM 40's kinda a big sacrifice for us students, but, as we all know, God gave a much, much bigger sacrifice for us.

Wednesday 8 July 2009

Funny, isn't it?

From today's The Star.

PM: Let's have a friendly contest
'...Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is hoping for a friendly contest between PAS and Umno in the Manek Urai by-election. He says both sides should not be involved in mudslinging. ...'
- page N4

PAS in a world of its own
Alwi: Party heading for disaster
'...Barisan Nasional fired its first salvo in the Manek Urai by-election here, accusing Kelantan PAS of "living in its own world" and being blind to political developments outside the state. "They also think Nik Abdul Aziz can live forever," said state Barisan secretary Datuk Md Alwi Che Ahmad. ...'
- page N24

Times like this're when politics get amusing.

Well.. time for me to do sejarah notes on Bab 4: Kemunculan Tamadun Islam dan Perkembangannya di Makkah.

Joy.

And it's over now..

IT WAS WORTH IT!
thanks, 'close friend'!

Friday 26 June 2009

Betapa amazing-nya Tuhan...

Cuz you see right..

The Recess Revo testimony *points down* from SMKBJ's RR upper-form group..

I posted in on urtherevolution.com too..

And this awesome girl all the way in KL read it..

And she was inspired..

And she did the same thing in her school (except I think they gave away more than one drink, and food also)..

And from that..

A non-Christian, a complete stranger to her till that day, is joining Recess Revo in her school!

Wednesday 24 June 2009

The Weirdest/Awesomest Recess Ever.

Okay before I start about what happened during Recess Revo...

...Eulene came up to me in the morning. There was still this letter she'd yet to give to the Pengetua. It's a belated teachers' day card-thingy from our CF.

So I teman-ed the fearless Eulene into the office in the morning (before perhimpunan) and we went into the Pengetua's room to give him the letter.

Eulene explained that it's a teachers' day card/letter thingy from our CF, so he took it and scanned it.

Scanned it for (what seemed to us like) a very long time, in silence, until finally he said, "Thank you." So we were like, "You're welcome, you're welcome." And off we went.

..

NOW. Recess Revo, upper forms.

I had a group of 10 fourth-formers for this Wed's meet. So once they all came, I told them that we'd be doing something similar to last week (giving certain teachers belated teachers' day cards).

Only this time we'd be giving students free drinks.

So I told them to buy a drink, pray and ask God who to give it to, and.. give!

Preferably not to their friends la, or else no point kan, if everyone just gives to their friends, then we're not impacting anyone outside our circle.

Pei was the first one to give. She gave it to Alya (from my class - I think she was sitting all alone, then Pei just went up and gave to her).

Then Julia gave to Preetem (form 3 indian guy). His friend next to him had a drink but he didn't.
Julia & Pei: We wanna give you this drink.
Preetem: ....Whyyy?
Julia & Pei: Cuz we wanna bless people.
So in the end he took the drink.

Leanne gave Joel.

Sharyn bought a bottled one for Pn Wong.

Not sure about the rest.

So ME right, I bought lor. And I seriously didn't know who to give it to.

First I tried a Malay guy prefect from my class, who bertugas at the canteen. He kept on saying he didn't want it, I said we just wanna make people happy, but he staunchly denied.

So I walked around, I couldn't see anyone to give to.

Then I saw this group of 3 Malay girls in their Kadet Bomba uniforms, 1 of them didn't have a drink.

So I thought, why not?

With reckless courage, I went up to the girls and gave the one the drink.

Me: Here, take this drink.
Her: ...................*stares at her friends* Why? No thanks.
Me: Cuz we wanna make people happy.
Her friend: *freaked out* What??
Me: We wanna bless people.
Them: *obviously freaked out* Okay, okay...

So I left. The girl was very apprehensive I think, but she drank it in the end la lol.

..

Well Pei said it was good, cuz it got us to come out of our comfort zones.

It really did.

Monday 22 June 2009

Why everyone shouldn'tve learnt P. Moral.

Firstly, moral botched it all.

I mean not that it really matters, but it's just annoying to know that a worthless subject screws up your grades.

Cuz you see, my lowest marks used to be 89% or so. Until Moral came along, with a big, fat 73%.

So apparently I'm civic-minded (I got 92% for that), but not moralistic.

What do the marks in P. Moral signify anyways?
The adeptness of students in mastering the technique of answering P. Moral questions the right way.

Nothing to do with morality.

Oh. You. Confused. Examination. System.

And anyways, what's the point of learning P. Moral? Not like it's gonna help you or anything when you grow up. You can't put people through a written exam or force 'em to do charity work to attain morality.

Oh wait I know. I can grow up and recite the definitions of 36 moral values from 7 learning areas to every immoral bystander on the streets.

Now really.

I might've stood a good chance of getting 1st if not for Moral, y'know that.

On the bright side, I won't have to go for Hari Anugerah anymore? I value my Saturday mornings... =)

I don't mind losing out on grades and stuff. However I don't like wasting time on pointless stuff! Everything I do has to have a point.

Saturday 20 June 2009

Cell Wars: Fending Off the Sods

Luke knew it all too well, once the red lights flashed like mad, once everyone started suiting up, once every officer in the control centre went off babbling into their respective intercom units.

Helmet on, orange jumpsuit zipped up, X-Wing ready. The calm in his mind was almost deceptive, but he was seasoned enough to keep a cool head.

Everyone else, though, wasn't in the same enlightenment.

And the Sods were back with a vengeance.

Control tasked him to take care of the Carrier in Lalaland, not very far off, and, like all the other Carriers, smack right on the border between his home and the outside world.

..

He actually felt guilty that his flight there felt so leisurely, in the midst of all the other T-Wings shooting at the Sods like mad and Y-Wings bombing whatever they could.

..

The Carrier looked helplessly useless enough on its own, with all the Sods about, rushing past the border to invade his home.

He knew the drill.

Luke armed his Adenosine Triphosphate (ADT) laser beams and fired away, not intent on killing the Sods but rather on herding them back at the Carrier.

On cue, the Carrier opened up, took in three Sods at a time, and, with energy from the phosphates found in Luke's ADT laser beams, blasted those Sods back into Sodland.

..

And that's how active transport in the plasma membrane works.

Bio oh bio.

Why I shouldn'tve learnt History.

Kata-kata hikmat oleh George Santayana (ahli falsafah)
"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."
(The Life of Reason, Volume 1:1905)

Meaning to say, if I didn't learn about Chandragupta Maurya conquering the whole of North India, then I would've conquered the whole of North India.

Aiks. Wasted..

Now I'm pretty sure I haven't learnt about the history of whoever conquered Timbuktu...

...anyone wanna go take over Timbuktu with me? =D

Crap.

I'm recovering from a sore throat, catching a flu and becoming feverish.

And guess what?

I'll be spending the night reading about P. Muhammad and his life.

Ohmygoodness.

My nose is dripping watery liquid already. Call it premonition?

The Snowball Effect...

...when all those small things just gang up on you, like they've a grudge to settle or something.

One more straw just might break the camel's back, you never know.

Crappy thing is, I serve a God that can't be understood.

There's bound to be a whole lot of "Why?"s. So, why?!

I'll find out, soon enough.

Apparently I zombie-fy people to keep on coming and playing floorball. lol

Well soon she'll be as mad for floorball as her brother! =D

Watch out, IVY!

The Awesomeness of Cell Group..

..is that numbers hardly matter.

Seriously!

We had 4 ppl, and we had, I quote Eulene, "The best cell group ever."

We had some weird cooking-for-fun thing (on-the-spot cooking with bread and eggs and whatever expired stuff (hahah) there was in Leanne's fridge).

It was fun!

Jin Ji cooks good k!

Then, of course, not forgetting the main purpose of cell group (to grow together in Him), we had a short time of sharing and talking, and a few great testimonies from Eulene.

Then prayer.

In the end no worship cuz Leroy was sleeping and Leanne didn't wanna disturb him to ask for permission to use his guitar, and no one could play songs on the keyboard properly.

Cell group was good. Even with four people, we did have a really good time in Him.

I mean I'm not saying big cell groups with lots of people are bad. I'm not saying we should shrink-size all cell groups.

I'm just saying cell group transcends how many people turn up.

Cuz really, when God's around, numbers don't matter as much as hearts do. 15 people regularly for cell group is freakin' awesome, but as little as 5 is also freakin' awesome.

So what if we only had four people? It was as awesome as when we have a dozen people!

It's something 'fat' Christians don't really understand.

Pastor Tom said, if I remember right, 80% of the church is made up of 'fat' Christians.

People who call themselves 'Christians' but just sit around and criticise what the other 20% do. 80% of works are done by that 20%.

Back to cell group.. if we have a few fit Christians, even just a handful, we can rock the world.

And if we have more than just a handful? We'll rock the highest heavens.

So come for cell group!

Wave Challenge '09...

...was very good.

Check Firebrands Floorball Club's blog and/or Firebrands' blog for updates, which should come up within a week.

Wednesday 22 April 2009

Youthwave

some random ramblings, in the days leading up to it.

oh darn we're going up against the SECOND best MGS team.. (thank you G12 for kindly posting up your teams on the blog. it helps...)

i hope Sali doesn't prove to be reminiscent of UniHawks (tall, towering and tall).

maybe kutu's team'll have a better chance.

but if i play like this, then eulene'll have to be in defense..

..steph can you pass a ball to me if i call out to you?

i hope they don't bunch around the ball again.

is 2nd in group too ambitious?

well at least it's a much better draw than the one Skyline got.

oh, yes, it does look rigged!

it's just for fun, Peili, just for fun...

oh and now i'll be handling the food too? okay...

eulene, leanne, steph and nat are following leroy. cherie and i are following eunice. eureka by herself. kutu can walk and carry nathania with her.

8 minutes non-stop?! gone la. no substitutes!

you don't really have to shoot. just do a really hard pass to the goal, or lob it and hope it bounces in somehow.

but if they leave the centre open?

yeah it won't be good if the opponent has a good centre.

but what're the chances of that?

oh joy. i won't be thrashed by UniHawks for the 4th time.

practise penalties.

if we don't lose at all, maybe can. if we lose one, then hard d. if we win just once, then i'm happy.

oh right... remember the main purpose of Wave Challenge..

don't tell me i'm the only shooter.

we're only playing two games. aw.

firebrands mah firebrands lor!

God rocks.

Recess Revo

So we didn't get the Week 3 booklet yet (Pragas hasn't gotten it from the KL people as yet), so we didn't have any material to share on during recess.

Pragas suggested just having prayer meets during recess.

But we were already doing prayer meets after school..

..so why not do our own mini Bible study?

So I kindly volunteered to do it for today, Peili doing it tomorrow.

And last night I was wondering what to do. Before I slept I asked God what He wanted me to share on.

And I heard: Making ourselves right with God.

So I researched a li'l bit, used the concordance (God bless whoever made concordances) to find the word 'right'.
And I ended up with the story of Simon the Sorcerer, and the word 'right' was in that passage (somewhere in Acts 8), on John telling Simon that his (Simon's) heart was not right before God, cuz Simon was offering money in order to receive the Holy Spirit.
Added a li'l reference to the passage in 1 Corinthians, about examining ourselves before partaking of the Communion, and voĆla! I've gotten something to share on.

We have to make ourselves right before God before we can reach out to others.

Anyhow Recess Revo today was really good!

Now to the point:

Eulene msged me, saying she didn't think she was gonna have bible study. But then this question just hit her before recess and it was How is Our Walk With God. So she shared on it before prayer, as today's Recess Revo.

Like wow..

Making ourselves right with God and How is our walk with God...

...so sepadan!

Like, God rocks in this place.

Just when I thought it couldn't get any better...

Guess what?

Yup yup.

Thank you mom, thank you dad, thank You God.

It'll make its debut during Wave Challenge.

Sure, there were at least 5 other pairs which looked better, one of them in particular looked really really nice.

But all those five were for casual wear. They can't survive running during floorball, unfortunately.

This one can.

Best weekend ever :)
